Honda Lane Departure Warning Information from Germain Honda of Ann Arbor

What is Lane Departure Warning?

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) is another advanced feature included in the Honda Sensing™ suite of driver-assistive technologies. It can detect unindicated lane departures from detected lanes. Alerts will flash and sound to help bring your attention to correcting the lane drift. If you’re driving and your vehicle detects that you’re slowly drifting outside of your current lane without using your turn signals, it will alert you in an attempt to get your attention and help you realign your vehicle.

How Does the Lane Departure Warning Feature Work?

Bolstering both driver confidence and awareness, Lane Departure Warning (LDW) is a particularly useful feature included with Honda Sensing™. Working in tandem with the Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM), Lane Departure Warning relies on a windshield-mounted camera that’s able to detect lane markings on the road surface.

Should the driver begin to stray from a detected lane path without activating their turn signal, LDW will alert the driver via an icon on the instrument cluster and an audible warning. Remember, this system is not a replacement for remaining attentive and engaged when behind the wheel. The driver remains responsible for avoiding collisions and safely operating their vehicle at all times.

Which Honda Vehicles Have the Lane Departure Warning Feature?

Across the entire Honda model range, you’ll have the ability to receive the dynamic Lane Departure Warning system. Included within the Honda Sensing™ collection of driver-assist features, it’s another great way to stay protected from the unknown on the roadways.
