Honda Collision Mitigation Braking System Information

What is the Honda Collision Mitigation Braking System?™
The Collision Mitigation Braking System™ or CMBS™ is part of the Honda Sensing™ technology that helps keep all drivers safe. This system, in particular, reduces the likelihood of a frontal impact. A forward-facing camera and a radar transmitter make it possible to determine the distance and closing speed of detected objects that lie directly in front of your vehicle.
How Do I Use the Collision Mitigation Braking System™?
As one of the most sophisticated safety systems of its kind, the Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) is engineered to operate in one of three stages.
- Once the system has detected the risk of a frontal collision with a vehicle, obstacle, or pedestrian ahead – both visual and audible alerts will be issued to the driver.
- Should the driver fail to take corrective action, the system will continue to provide visual and audible alerts while also applying the brakes lightly.
- After the system has determined that a collision is unavoidable, strong braking will be applied in an effort to reduce the forces of the impact. Remember, CMBS may not be able to apply enough force to prevent a collision. The driver must always be attentive and aware to intervene prior to the system engaging. Also, CMBS may go straight to Stage 3 if the system determines that’s the best course of action.
