How To Make Your XLIX Super Bowl Party A Winner
The Big Game is almost here. And no matter what team you’re rooting for, it’s time to draw up the winning plays for a memorable Super Bowl party that will have everyone cheering. So we put together some ideas on how to make your Super Bowl XLIX viewing party, well…super!
Get some inexpensive AstroTurf and cut it into round drink coasters and beer koozies. Buy several potted wheatgrass plants (you’ll find them at any local flower shop or nursery), and top them with small pennants and mini footballs. You can get those at your favorite party store.
Create a football field table runner using “chalkboard contact paper.” You can draw yard lines with chalk and a ruler.
Guests can draw out their own plays with the chalk during the game. Create a “potato bar” with frozen potato wedges served with a variety of toppings and dips, such as chopped onions, grated cheese, jalapeños, salsa, and low-fat sour cream. Throw them in the oven and you’re good to go! Get everyone in the game by having your guests predict the final score. Write their guesses on tags and tie them to their beer steins or glasses. The person who comes closest to the final score wins a prize.
Offer guests a selection of beers that match team mascots or hometowns, like “Dark Horse Beer” for the Broncos, or Samuel Adams Boston Lager for the Patriots, for example. Serve food that represents each team’s hometown. Include team colors to make it more fun. If people are bringing hot food, get some extra power strips so they can plug in their crockpots and hot plates to keep things warm. Send out football themed email invitations two weeks before the party. Separate food and drink into “teams” incorporating team colors, logos, and mascots. Big Game. Bigger Deals.
